Named for the Bird That Sings at Dusk

Most birds fall quiet as the sun goes down, but a wren will often keep singing right into the dusk, one small bright voice at the end of the day. We named Eveningwren after that evening wren, because that is the hour we make things for: the porch, the last of the light, a cold drink in your hand and nowhere else to be.

Why birds

Anyone who keeps a feeder knows the rhythm. The chickadees come first, the cardinals come late, and the doves settle on the fence as the light turns gold. Watching them is one of the gentlest habits there is, and it asks nothing of you but a few quiet minutes. We wanted to carry a little of that feeling into the rest of the day.

Original art, made to be carried

Every Eveningwren design is original bird art, painted as a single scene that wraps all the way around the tumbler. Turn the cup and the branch keeps going: a wren's honeysuckle trails round to the back, a flock of waxwings works through the berries, a heron-still egret waits among the lotus. You won't find these designs in other shops.

We put the art on a tumbler rather than a print for the wall because a tumbler goes where you go. It rides in the cup holder on the school run, sits on the desk through long afternoons, and comes out to the porch when the day winds down.

Three collections

• Golden Hour: songbirds painted against glowing evening skies, from apricot dusk to lavender twilight.
• The Aviary: birds and blossom in the spirit of hand-painted chinoiserie wallpaper and blue-and-white porcelain.
• Field Notes: naturalist study plates with fine engraved linework and watercolour washes on warm parchment.

The tumbler underneath

Each design is printed on the same 20 oz stainless steel tumbler: straight-sided, double-wall vacuum insulated, with a clear slide lid and a reusable steel straw. It keeps drinks cold for up to about 24 hours and hot for up to about 8. Wash it by hand and the print will stay bright.
