How we look after your details

We keep this simple: we gather what it takes to get a tumbler to your door and to answer your emails, and we look after it carefully. Eveningwren does not sell or rent personal information to anyone. Below is the full picture, including the outside services that handle some data for us.

The information we gather

When you order

Your name, email address, delivery and billing addresses, a phone number if you choose to add one at checkout, and the details of what you bought.

When you write to us

The contents of your emails and any photos you attach, for example of a parcel that arrived damaged.

When you browse

Cookies and similar tools record basic technical information, such as your browser and device type, the pages you look at, and a rough location worked out from your IP address.

If you join our emails

Your email address and your sign-up preference. Joining is always optional.

Your card number goes straight into the secure checkout run by our payment processor. It never passes through our hands and we do not keep it.

What we do with it

• take payment for, pack, ship and track your order;
• handle returns, refunds and replacements;
• answer your questions;
• spot and stop fraudulent orders and keep the site secure;
• see which pages are useful and which need work;
• show Eveningwren ads on Facebook and Instagram and measure how they perform (explained below);
• send you our emails, only if you asked for them.

The services that handle data for us

A small online shop relies on a few trusted partners. We share only what each one needs to do its job:

• Shopify runs our website and checkout and stores order records for us.
• Our payment processor takes your payment securely and runs fraud screening.
• Shipping carriers are given your name, delivery address and contact details so they can deliver your parcel and send tracking updates.
• Meta (Facebook and Instagram) receives information through the Meta pixel, a small piece of code on our site that notes events such as pages viewed, items added to the bag and purchases. We use it to measure our advertising and to show our ads to people likely to enjoy them.

We may also release information when the law requires it, or where it is needed to protect our customers, our business or the public.

Selling and sharing

Your personal information is never sold or rented. Some U.S. state laws describe advertising tools like the Meta pixel as "sharing" for targeted ads. If you would like to switch that off, visit Your Privacy Choices, where you can opt out.

Cookies

Some cookies are needed for the site to work at all, such as those that keep items in your bag. Others help us understand visits or support our advertising. Where a cookie banner appears you can decline the optional ones, and your browser settings let you clear or block cookies. Turning off essential cookies may stop the bag and checkout working properly.

How long we keep information

Order records are kept for as long as tax, accounting and legal rules require, after which they are deleted or made anonymous. If you join our emails, we keep your address until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may be entitled to see the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, receive a copy, or object to certain uses. Send your request to info@eveningwren.com. We will check it is really you and reply within the period the law allows. Exercising these rights will never affect how we treat you.

Where information is handled

WENCHENG (HONG KONG) CO., LIMITED is based in Hong Kong. Our service providers may store or process information in the United States and elsewhere, and we rely on the safeguards they have in place when data travels between countries.

Children

Our site is meant for adults and is not aimed at anyone under 16. We do not knowingly gather children's information; if you think a child has sent us personal details, email us and we will remove them.

Keeping it safe

The site and checkout use encrypted connections, and only the people and services who need order information can reach it. No system can be perfectly secure, but we take sensible, practical steps to guard what you give us.

Changes to this policy
